The Thompson/Center Contender is a break-action single-shot pistol (or rifle) which was introduced in 1967 by Thompson/Center Arms, and can be chambered in calibers from 22 Long Rifle to 45-70 Government. The most unusual feature of the Contender is that the frame itself contains no cartridge-specific components. The barrel assembly, which can be easily removed from the frame and exchanged for another, incorporates the caliber-specific components. The frame-mounted hammer can accommodate both rimfire and centerfire ammunition. Since the sights and extractor remain attached to the barrel in the Contender design, a barrel of another caliber or length can be installed with pre-aligned sights. This allows for easy changes of calibers, sights, and barrel lengths, with only a flat screwdriver being required. This example shows moderate wear, with the only significant defect being a cracked grip cap (see photo). There are 4 complete barrel assemblies included with this pistol; a 10-inch in 44 Remington Magnum with Weaver optics, a 10-inch in 357 Magnum with Weaver VH-8 optics, a 10-inch in 30-30 WIN with Weaver VH-8 optics, and the one which is currently mounted, a 10-inch in 22 LR Match with Thompson Center optics.

Overall condition of this firearm, based on Blue Book of Gun Values guidelines, is 75%.
